Busy people often wonder why they get headache. What causes these terrible headaches? What are different types of headache? Well, the first thing you need to understand is that headaches are in fact very common, especially for people who are always on the rush. The symptoms most noted for sufferers are severe pain or throbbing in the head or neck area. As there are so many types of headaches that one can experience, determining what the root cause of the pain is can be very difficult.

The most common headaches is the tension headache; this falls into the group of the cervicogenic headache. This is the group that also covers the whiplash headache and the stiff neck headache.  This headache is suffered equally by both sexes and is brought on by stress.  Almost everyone will have one of these headaches at some point in their lives. The reason for these headaches is likely caused by muscle constriction. Though some studies have contradicting conclusions that make researchers believe there is more to it.

Other headaches have other root causes. A migraine headache has many potential triggers, for some its red wine, chocolate or too much sleep. But no matter what it is when a person begins to feel that temple headache pain they know a migraine is on its way. Some medications will work for migraines, but more often its a fast trip to a quite room, to lie in the dark and hope for a little sleep to help ease the pain.

The cluster headache is known to be the most painful of all the headaches one may suffer from. Unlike migraines the cluster headache cause is not as clear. For some sufferers there are obvious triggers. These can be strong odors like perfumes or it can be drinking alcohol. This is especially true if a person is drinking alcohol during an episode of these incredible painful headaches. For others it can be foods or even having a nap. These headaches come up and then disappear so quickly that using medication to treat them is near impossible unless you have an inhaler.

How does one tell the difference between a sinus headache symptom and symptoms of other types of headache pain? Its actually quite simple. Sinus headache pain is very distinctive as it is always around both eyes, unlike migraine pain that centers around one eye. The sufferer will feel pain around the eyes, beside the nose and up into the forehead. It feels like pressure over these spots and will also feel tender to the touch as the sinuses are usually swollen.

Caffeine can be a friend to headache sufferers or their worst enemy. Those who are big consumers of coffee will eventually come to see the two sides of their addiction to caffeine. If for some reason they reduce their coffee intake, or miss ingesting their favorite liquid for part of the day, they can suffer a caffeine withdrawal headache. Yet, caffeine headache treatments are well recognized with the caffeine being used as a painkiller in many over the counter medications.

Whatever types of headache pain you suffer there is some type of pain relief available to you.
